What is a Nightlatch/Rimlock?
Rimlocks are locks that are mounted on the surface of the door and not morticed in. A Nightlatch is a rimlock that can be opened from the inside by turning a knob or lever but from the outside, can only be opened with a key. Commonly referred to as "a Yale lock" or the "Top Lock", nightlatches are very widely used on residential front doors and communal entry doors.
