Householder Locked out of home mistaken for a burglar!
Monday, 9 December 2013 | Toni
Six officers rushed to a property to intercept a suspected burglar only to discover that it was actually the householder who had been locked out of his home.
Police in Chandler's Ford, Hampshire responded to a report of a man climbing through a ground floor window of a flat in Richmond Close on Thursday at 3pm. The call was made by a bystander waiting at the bus stop opposite the flat who thought a burglary was in process.
Police responded by cutting off the entrance and exit only to discover that the "burglar" was actually the householder who had locked himself out of the property after going outside for a cigarette.
Officers were recalled immediately once the mistake was recognised.
